SBL Round 12 (Regular Season): Leader Al-Ula gets another victory

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Undefeated leader Al-Ula delivered the thirteenth consecutive win on Friday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Al Khaleej (2-11) 103-60. Al-Ula forced 21 Al Khaleej turnovers and had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-1987, college: NM State) who scored 30 points and 4 assists. chipped in 19 points and 14 rebounds. Al-Ula's coach Izzat Ismail felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kaleb Thornton (183-1999, college: Akron) who recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Undefeated Al-Ula (13-0) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 13 victories in a row. Al Khaleej at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Al-Ula are looking forward to face Al Fateh (#6) in Al Hasa in the next round where they are favorite. Al Khaleej will play at home against the league's second-placed Al Ahli and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Al Ittihad (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Mudhar (4-8). Al Ittihad smashed Mudhar 91-70. It was a good game for American point guard Erick Neal (178-1995, college: UT Arlington) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Jarell Eddie contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Al Ittihad's coach Slobodan Subotic felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Nigerian center Jason Jitoboh (211-2001, college: Tennessee St., agency: JCK Sports Group) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for Mudhar. Al Ittihad have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 9-3 record having five points less than leader Al-Ula, which they share with Al Nasr. Mudhar lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Al Ittihad's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jeddah Al Ahli.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Medina. Local Ohod (1-12) was outscored by sixth ranked Al Salam (5-6) 119-51 on Friday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Stephen Hurt who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Mohammed Alhawsawi with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Ohod's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Salam moved-up to fifth place. Ohod lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Al Salam will meet at home higher ranked Al Ittihad (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ohod will play against Al Khewaildia (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 12 Al Fateh was crushed by Al Nasr in Riyadh 92-73. Al Khewaildia was smashed by Al Ahli at home 51-115.



Mudhar - Al Ittihad 70-91

There was no surprise in Riyadh where 6th ranked Al Fateh (5-8) was crushed by fourth ranked Al Nasr (9-3) 92-73 on Friday. Al Nasr made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Al Nasr had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Algerian Mohamed Harat (198-1990) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and Musab Kadi who added 25 points during the contest. Al Nasr's coach Fadi Sobhi used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Lazar Nekic (213-1999, college: LMU) with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese-Spanish power forward Mamadou Samb (210-1989) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Al Nasr moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Ittihad. Al Fateh lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. They outrebounded Al Khewaildia 57-20 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Al Ahli looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Al Khewaildia's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American Tyler Stone (203-1991, college: SEMO, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the other American import center Justin Patton (216-1997, college: Creighton) who added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest.
